Created out of sandalwood beads in this case, the prayer mala is the rosary of the Hindu world. This particular mala has been created to be closed with a clasp so it can be worn or otherwise used in a more versatile fashion, though it is traditionally held in one hand while one counts the beads in meditation, or recites prayers to the divine in rhythm with one's breathing. When unnclasped the mala measures approximately 16 3/4'' in length and features beads measures approximately 4mm in width.
